Friday Poll 2_29_08 Leap Year
Have you ever met anyone who was born on February 29th?
Oscars
So, I guess the Oscars were okay considering the fact the I hadn't seen hardly any of the movies that were nominated for ANYTHING! The only thing I can really give an opinion on is the fashion. I thought most of the dresses were very unflattering, although Helen Mirren looked absolutely beautiful. She was the best dressed by far, in my opinion. Did anyone else have any thoughts on this?
Maybe I'll regret saying this in a couple of months.
I am ready for spring. I can deal with the pollen and the bugs and the heat. I am just so sick of this cold, yucky weather. I am tired of being stuck in the house with a toddler and I am tired of having to clothe said toddler in layers and jackets and hats and socks and shoes every single time we have to run out to do anything (including every time I have to take Holly out for two seconds to pee). I am sorry to complain.
Friday Poll 2_22_08 Cars
What kind of car do you drive? If money were no object, what kind of car would you buy? And describe the first car you owned.
Just a spoonful of sugar.
Yesterday, I was having sort of a bad morning. Owen was crying and fussy about everything and I was feeling very frustrated and upset. So I put Owen in the van and went for coffee. Before pulling up to Starbucks I took and deep breath and decided to be cheerful and nice. Once I got to the window, the guy that works there said, "you remind me of Mary Poppins. You are always so cheerful!" It was sort of an odd comment, but it actually made me feel a lot better. I like that I seem so happy, even when I'm having a rough day.
Hot Rod
Has anyone else seen Hot Rod? Austin and I watched it the other day and it is most likely the worst movie I've ever watched all the way through (or at least a close second), but there was one scene that had Austin and me laughing hysterically. I actually had tears running down my face I was laughing so hard. It was the "cool beans" scene and it was just so random. I was just wondering if other people thought that part was that funny.
Letters
I had no idea that Owen knew some of his letters. Well, I knew that he knew the letter X, but I didn't know that he knows R, O and P just as well as he knows X. I also didn't know that he knew how to say Oscar and crayon. Maybe he just learned them today.
Friday Poll 2_15_08 Colors
What colors are the walls in your house? Do you like them?
To Owen... (23 Months Old)
I'm sorry this is so late!
You are learning new words every day. I can't even list all of the words that you know now, but some of your newest words are guitar, sit, purple, red, blue, pizza, apple, one, two, seven, feet, cookie (you have been saying cookie for a while, but now you say it in relation to "cookie monster"), ernie, x, heart, toes, button, up, down, go, in, out, outside, kick, and helicopter (which sounds like "heh-car" and you use the word helicopter to describe airplanes also). I had said "uh-oh spaghetti-o" a few times because I thought it would be funny if you said that. The other day I noticed that you were saying, "uh-oh goy-too." I realized that you were trying to say uh-oh spaghetti-o. And you call Mickey Mouse, teddy. You also say something that sounds like, "where'd you go" all slurred together when someone is where you can't see them.
You are getting so tall and thin. It is amazing that you can reach the things you can reach now.
You are such a mess, but I can't help but laugh when you do things like rub peanut butter in your hair, hold your tongue out for Holly to lick, put stickers on my computer, put stickers on Holly, try to escape out of the door into the garage, and take all of the water bottles out of a 24 pack of water and line them up and play with them.
Even though I felt sorry for her, it was all I could do not to laugh the other day when you straddled Holly and started to lower yourself down saying, "botsy, botsy" (which means bouncy, bouncy in Owenese). Luckily, I stopped you before you bounced on her, but it was still pretty funny.
You really like pointing out your belly button when I ask you where it is. You lift up your shirt and point down at it. You seem so proud. At the end of your Gymboree classes the teachers give the students stamps on their hands and then sometimes on their tummies (usually in that order). The other day, you marched right up to the teacher and lifted up your shirt. She laughed and gave you the stamp.
Your daddy is your hero. You get so excited to see him when he gets home. You love playing with him, cuddling with him, eating his food, and jumping on top of him.
The other day you dropped a big, full jar of peanut butter on my toe. It hurt so bad that I had to go sit down. I told you that it hurt. You walked away for a second and came back with a diaper. You handed me the diaper and said, "thanks." As odd as that was, it was like you were trying to comfort me. And it was very sweet. I love you.
Love, Mama
Happy Birthdays!
Happy birthday, Gillam (today) and Ashley (tomorrow)! I hope you girls have a great one!
